We recently celebrated the conclusion of another EU Academy cohort with an unforgettable graduation event. Today, we honor you—our brilliant graduates!
Over the past months, you’ve embarked on a journey full of discovery and growth. You’ve attended knowledgeable lectures, engaged with EU experts, participated in hands-on workshops, and visited key diplomatic sites in Copenhagen. But beyond this, you’ve become part of a community bound by a shared European identity.
Your curiosity, active participation, and thought-provoking questions have inspired us all. Welcome to our growing alumni network, where you’ll continue to shape the future of Europe!
As is tradition, no graduation event is complete without a panel discussion. This semester, inspired by the dynamic geopolitical landscape, we explored the question: “Is the European Union prepared to address emerging security threats?”. The panel, moderated by Szymon Szacht, our Co-Executive Director, featured:
- Derek Hutcheson, Pro Dean of Malmö University's Faculty of Culture and Society
- Christian Maurice BISSINGER, a graduate of EU Academy’s HT24 semester.
During the panel, Derek and Christian discussed:
- The EU’s response to non-traditional threats like cyberattacks and disinformation campaigns.
- The potential impact of Donald Trump’s upcoming presidency on EU relations.
- The challenges posed by the complexity of government stability and unity across EU member states.
- Russia’s aggressive actions that challenge the EU’s security landscape, which have prompt EU states to respond with sanctions and reevaluation of energy relations.
And of course, we had plenty of eye-opening questions from our graduates!
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Kristina Hrbinic and the Europa Direkt Lund team for your ongoing support and for hosting this incredible event. We look forward to continued collaboration!
Here’s to another semester of growth, discovery, and building a brighter future for Europe!
